It was established in 1937, and has sandy beaches, sand dunes, and salt marshes that you can enjoy. It has protected beaches because of certain animals that are endangered including the piping plover. In 1998, there was an extension added to protect the sand dune system, and if you have read and of Green Gables, it was this national park that was the inspiration for Lucy Maud Montgomery.
